As the Producer of the Atlanta Jazz Festival from 1984 - 1987, and the Founder and Producer of the Montreux Atlanta International Music Festival from 1988 - 1994, Mark Johnson presented some of the world’s most talented artists in venues across Atlanta. Johnson conceptualized and created a partnership with Montreux Jazz Festival producer Claude Nobs, the City of Montreux and the City of Atlanta to create this sister event in Atlanta. Johnson turned the Festival over to the City of Atlanta’s Bureau of Cultural Affairs to become a founding member of the House of Blues, opening HOB venues in Cambridge, New Orleans and Los Angeles. He broadcasted the House of Blues Radio Hour hosted by Dan Ackroyd, and broadcasted the Friday Night from the House of Blues concert series. As a talent manager, producer and presenter over 30 years, Johnson was instrumental in bringing the House of Blues to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, featuring performances by an array of diverse artists that Johnson has had the privilege to work with.
